Rough Sketch & Concept Drawings

ROUGH SKETCHES

Cost: Determined after on-site consultation; cost varies depending on size and scope of project. We will prepare a proposal outlining the cost of your design work for your review and approval before commencing work.

We offer this option in conjunction with our design consultation.  It’s an in-between tier of service for folks who don’t need or aren’t yet ready to commit to a full-scale garden design, but who want a little more than merely verbal ideas tossed around during the consultation.

What you get: This service provides you with a written list of plant suggestions (which, of course, we highly recommend purchasing at our nursery!) accompanied by a rough – and we mean, rough – sketch outlining planting areas in broad definition.

In the trade we call these rough drawings “bubble sketches” because the designer uses “bubbles” or loose shapes to indicate planting recommendations. For example, there may an area designated for “shade perennials” or “deciduous shrubs” or “evergreen screening.” These bubbles will be accompanied by a list of recommended plants, but it will be up to you to make the final selections and work out the placement and spacing.

We will prepare a proposal outlining the cost of the service and the expected deliverables. Upon your signed approval of the proposal, we will commence work. We make every effort to get results to you as quickly as possible, but during our busy season (March-June) please allow a minimum of three weeks from the time we receive your signed approval for us to complete your work.

CONCEPT DRAWINGS

Cost: Determined after on-site consultation; cost varies depending on size and scope of project.

This service provides you with a detailed planting sketch created to-scale with plant names, quantities, and placement clearly outlined.

What you get: Scaled drawings (hand-rendered or CAD-generated) detailing all plant names, quantities, and placement.

Upon receipt of your signed design proposal, we will commence work on the drawing. We will be in touch frequently to keep you apprised of our progress and to keep you actively involved in the process.

At this point, it is a good idea to decide whether you plan to undertake all or part of the installation yourself or if you would like us to provide an estimate for the cost of our crew to handle it. We are also happy to break out the work into phases and can advise you on the best way to tackle the different aspects of the master plan.
